IMPROVEMENT OF FLOOD CONDITIONS IN THE BADAŠEVICA CATCHMENT AREA IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF KOPER – PHASE 1

Public utility and water infrastructure IMPROVEMENT OF FLOOD CONDITIONS IN THE BADAŠEVICA CATCHMENT AREA IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF KOPER – PHASE 1

With rising sea levels and increased peaks of high-water events on watercourses, Koper will in the near future need measures that will significantly reduce the flood risk due to the impact of high waters of the Badaševica River and the sea (along the Badaševica) and backwaters.

Flood safety with a 100-year return period and a design solution that is resistant to future climate change will need to be ensured. This takes into account a sea level rise of 61 cm (lower value) and an increase in flows by 2070.

THE PROJECT WILL INCREASE THE RESILIENCE OF URBAN AREAS TO CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENSURE GREATER SAFETY FOR RESIDENTS.
