FLOOD PROTECTION MEASURES ON THE MURA RIVER IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF LJUTOMER, RAZKRIŽJE, AND ŠČAVNICA
The project includes the extension and raising of the high-water flood protection embankment on the right bank of the Mura River in the municipality of Razkrižje, in the municipality of Ljutomer on the section from Gezove jame to the border with the municipality of Razkrižje, and in the municipality of Ščavnica.
High-water embankments run along the Mura River, but they no longer meet basic standards; their height is inadequate, and the local materials used in their construction mostly have unsuitable geomechanical properties. In certain sections, the embankments have not yet been built.
The construction of flood protection embankments will improve flood safety for residents, agricultural land, and infrastructure along the Mura River.
THE TOTAL LENGTH OF THE PLANNED FLOOD PROTECTION EMBANKMENTS AND WALLS ALONG THE MURA AND ŠČAVNICA RIVERS IS 13.5 KILOMETERS.
