BUILDING AT RIMSKA 1 IN LJUBLJANA
The renovation of the building at Rimska 1 also marks the beginning of the NUK II project. After reconstruction, the building will house an educational centre. It is conceived as an autonomous unit; once the construction of the main NUK II building begins, a night reading room, available 24 hours a day, will be added adjacent to it.
During the reconstruction, the interior of the old building will be demolished, while only the existing outer structure will be preserved and restored. A new concrete structural framework will be inserted into the façade walls. After reconstruction, a bookstore will operate on the ground floor, while the upper floors will be dedicated to an educational centre for library activities, including a smaller lecture hall.
Three protected black poplars stand on the eastern side of the building, which must be preserved during and after construction.
THE RENOVATION OF THE BUILDING AT RIMSKA 1 REPRESENTS THE BEGINNING OF THE NUK II PROJECT.
